BREATH AND VOCAL CAMP

BREATH AND VOCAL CAMP

RETREAT TO THE HILLS: CREATIVE BREATH AND VOCAL CAMP
FRIDAY 20TH TO SUNDAY 22ND SEPTEMBER 2019

Take a breath of air, walk in the woods, sing around the fire, eat delicious, healthy food together and camp under the stars in the beautiful Blackdown Hills on the Autumn Equinox.

A restful and creative weekend for anyone feeling overloaded with work, struggling with general stresses of life, feeling disconnected, lacking confidence, or just generally just needing some calm relaxing space.

During our weekend we will use a combination of meditation, breath, vocal, movement and journal work to increase resonance, expand vocal range, develop self expression, find mental clarity, eliminate anxiety, reconnect with ourselves, others and the natural world.

Take time out to open to your creative potential with guided exercises designed to help identify and release old barriers and enable new growth.

Explore fresh possibilities, reflect on the turning of the year as we release the fullness of the summer and gather to embrace our Autumn harvest.
Weed out, cut back and nurture the specific seeds you choose to carry forward through the shortening days into the gestation of Winter months...

About your Tutor: Michelle Ridings

I aim for my teaching to enable, empower and connect participants with a greater sense of who they are so they can create healthy change in their own lives and potentially, in the wider world.

I combine theatre, voice and movement disciplines with a holistic overview to enhance self-awareness and positivity, health, strength, balance and wellness

I have an approach to integrating breath, body and voice work that is designed to promote empowerment, resonance and harmony:

Tune in to listen to the body to find fluidity and flow.

Breathe out, cleanse and release obstacles to our personal growth.

Breathe in balance, strengthening our abilities to communicate our unique truth with greater ease.

Explore inherent emotional landscapes and integrate internal rhythms bringing about a deeper connection with ourselves, each other and our home in the natural world.

This work is accessible to all levels and abilities.

QUICK REMINDER: we always encourage a low environmental impact, all of our food is sourced locally from sustainable growers and we use only reusable materials in our workshops and classes, on top of this we encourage all who take part in the retreat travel via public transport , car share or other sustainable means - contact us for any help planning your route, and we will arrange to collect you on this side.

A couple of testimonials from previous participants...

"Michelle is one of my favorite people to collaborate with. Brilliant teacher and guide. Highly recommended. Talented performer and dedicated to her art."

Samantha Emmanuel

"I would strongly recommend this retreat. Michelle Ridings takes all her years of singing, performance and personal story to weave a unique experience for her participants. Creating a safe and held space enables Michelle to share her wisdom, which imbues confidence in the possibilities of self through voice and movement. Her earthiness and connectedness ensure that her work is accessible and best of all fun. A worthwhile investment." Nicola Glassbrook

"I have done many of her voice workshops over the years. She has always had a confidence in her craft coming from a passion for singing and teaching vocal technique to others, which has made her an amazing voice teacher, calm, focussed, caring and fun. She holds the energy of a group and brings out the best in all of us.
All of this experience Michelle brought to my most recent journey with her at ‘Sound and Silence Retreat’ in November last year.
I had arrived blocked up with little breath or confidence and I love to sing, I was feeling pretty sorry for myself. By the end of the retreat I was singing heartily with our wonderful group a Nina Simone song ‘And I’m Feeling Good’ Michelle taught us, taking us step by step and I tell you by the end we were sounding really cool and definitely ‘’Feeling Good’, It was great.
On the final morning of the retreat Michelle took us on a beautiful singing woodland walk, crunching on Autumn leaves, stopping at the river to sing rounds, and connect even deeper together, culminating in our singing the chorus of 'Wade in the Water’ a beautiful old spiritual song covered by Eva Cassidy amongst others, all the way through the woods, up over the fields and back to our Closing Circle before homeward bound.
All I can say is, wade in the water with Michelle and join this retreat, you’ll love it." Helena Pelosi

"I couldn't recommend my wonderful mum's breath and vocal retreat more! Those that know her probably have already experienced her healing powers in some way or another! She has an incredible ability to help people find clarity, tranquility and self confidence and reconnection. Every time I have taken part in one of her breath or vocal workshops or retreats, i have left feeling transformed and grounded - Whilst all the while enjoying a relaxing weekend in nature, with likeminded souls!" Brigite Rowan.
